Perfil biográfico
Professor Catedrático da Universidade de Aveiro desde 1 de Junho de 1999 exercendo funções no Departamento de Engenharia Cerâmica e do Vidro, Universidade de Aveiro, Campus de Santiago, 3810-193 Aveiro. Director-Adjunto do Laboratório Associado CICECO-Centro de Investigação em Materiais Cerâmicos e Compósitos desde 16-02-2002. Agregação em Ciência e Engenharia dos Materiais, Universidade de Aveiro, (20/05/1997). Doutorado em Ciência e Engenharia dos Materiais por equivalência concedida em 1982 pela Universidade de Aveiro ao PhD. in Materials Science and Engineering, Leeds University, England, 1981. Licenciado em Física pela Faculdade de Ciências de Lisboa, 1976

Actividade pedagógica

Foi o responsável científico da proposta e coordenou o contrato e as actividades do Centro Doctoral (PHD20) Marie Curie Training Site for Advanced Ceramic Materials: Synthesis And Structure, criado na Universidade de Aveiro, Contracto HPMT-CT-2000-00206, European Commission, de Dezembro de 2000-Maio de 2005, 80 fellow.month, que suportou neste período estadias no CICECO de 3-10 meses de 14 estudantes de PhD. de universidades de outros países europeus.

Foi, ou é responsável por 7 projectos nacionais (dos programas Mobilizador, PEDIP, STRIDE, PRAXIS, POCTI), tendo sido o responsável na universidade de 3 outros projectos. Participou/a ainda em 3 outros projectos com financiamento europeu.
