Síntese por deposição química em fase vapor (CVD) de nanoestruturas e revestimentos de carbono (diamante nano e microcristalino, nanotubos de carbono e grafeno) para componentes mecânicos e aplicações em eletrónica e biomedicina.

Produção de filmes ultrafinos por deposição em camada atómica (“atomic layer deposition”-ALD) para microeletrónica, catálise e aplicações em energia.

Comportamento tribológico de materiais e sistemas.

Fabricação e caracterização mecânica de cerâmicos estruturais e compósitos de matriz cerâmica.
