Born in 1977, Porto, Nuno graduated in Physics in 1999 at Faculdade de Ciências Universidade do Porto. He then moved to University of Aveiro where he completed a master in Materials Science & Engineering (2003) and a PhD in Physics (“Structural and magnetic studies on iron oxide nanoparticles in hybrid matrices”, December 2006). Nuno went then to Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Aragón at University of Zaragoza, Spain, where he worked between 2007 and 2009 as a Post-Doc Research Trainee in the development of magnetic nanoparticles for biomedical applications. In May 2009 Nuno decided to develop his career in Portugal as a Ciencia2008 Researcher at CICECO, where he pursues independent research in collaboration with host, European, Japanese and US groups in multi-disciplinary areas, luminescence, magnetism, magnetic hyperthermia, chemistry and biomedicine. Nuno published 3 book chapters, one international patent application and about 70 papers (~15oo times cited without self-citations; h=20). Nuno is a regular user of European Synchrotron, Neutron and High-Magnetic Field facilities, having about 15 past accepted proposals as the principal investigator of teams involving national and international collaborators.
In 2001, Nuno concluded Piano and Composition studies at the Music Conservatoire of Porto in the class of Prof. Maria José Sousa Guedes and Prof. Fernando Lapa.
