Dr. Roque obtained her PhD from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto, in the area of numerical modeling of composite materials, using meshless numerical methods. During her research she applied several meshless numerical methods to the analysis of composite structures, including laminated composites and functionally graded composites. She also uses nonlocal and nonclassical continuum theories to study structures at a micro and nano scales. More recently she incorporated optimization techniques into her research in order to optimize the design of beams and plates.
In 2012 she received the Timberlake Consultores award for best paper by a young researcher at the 1st National Conference on Symbolic Computation in Education and Research. She has teaching experience in the area of Algebra and Analysis, taught in the Integrated Master of Informatics and Computing Engineering, Integrated Master of Engineering and Industrial Management and Integrated Master of Mechanical Engineering, at the Engineering Faculty of the University of Porto.
Dr. Roque has coauthored around 63 articles in peer review international journals (indexed in the SCOPUS and Web of Science database) with an h index of 31/30/33 (Scopus/ISI Web of Science/Google Scholar) and with over 3000 citations in WoS.
Also as part of her research activities she contributes regularly as a reviewer for many engineering and applied mathematical journals, having performed 202 verified review contributions on Publons up until January 2019. She also contributed has an evaluator for 4 calls of the EU Horizon2020 program.
