Directors
Directors are responsible to run everyday business and together with Research Line and Group Coordinators form the Coordinating Committee, wich is responsible to define our objectives, strategies and practices.
CICECO’s organisational model includes: i) Scientific Council (all PhD members); ii) Directing Board (Director and Vice-Directors); iii) Coordinating Committee (Directing Board plus Group and Line Coordinators); iv) Advisory board (international renown scientists); v) PhD Students Council; vi) Support Units. This structure is founded on the Statutes (DR no. 36/2020 2nd series, 20 February 2020 & DR no. 229/2020, 2nd series, 24 November 2020).

Assesses our work, assists in defining scientific priorities, strategies, and organization issues.
PhD Students Council
CAD is an advisory body elected by CICECO’s doctoral students and aims to give voice to the concerns and recommendations of these students. It is composed by doctoral students from the Department of Chemistry (DQ), Department of Materials and Ceramics Engineering (DEMaC), and Department of Physics (DF).
Support Units
Technical specialists support everyday life of our laboratory.
CISS
CENTRE FOR IMAGING AND STRUCTURAL STUDIES
Gathers and manages, in an integrated way, medium and large-scale equipment facilities (electron microscopes, solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometers, X-ray diffractometers...), ensuring maintenance, running costs, upgrading, user courses, etc. All CICECO scientists have free access to these facilities and services to external users are also provided.
CMDT
CENTRE FOR MATERIALS DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY
Interface structure dealing with companies and other external entities. Also assists our scientists in finding funding, preparing applications, managing projects, creating spin-offs, and managing intellectual property rights.

Responsible for the promotion of science activities in society aiming to foster critical thinking and engagement in the general public.
FAI
FINANCE, ACCOUNTING AND INFORMATION
The structure is responsible to support researchers managing projects by providing financial accounting operations, purchase and human resources management. It also assists the directing board with information collection, curation and management, preparing project applications and reporting, communication and process optimization.
