Registration is now open for Jornadas CICECO 2026, which will take place on 15 October at Casa da Cultura de Ílhavo. Under the theme "Celebrating CICECO Alumni Excellence, Diversity and Impact", this year's event will highlight the achievements of CICECO alumni while celebrating the institute's 25th anniversary.
A longstanding tradition within the institute, Jornadas CICECO provides an opportunity for members of the CICECO community, alumni, students, industrial partners and collaborators to meet, exchange ideas and strengthen professional networks. The 2026 edition will reflect on the institute's legacy while looking ahead to future scientific and societal challenges through the experiences of its alumni and the continued excellence of its research community.
The programme features a series of keynote lectures delivered by former CICECO researchers who have built distinguished careers across academia, industry and science communication. Invited speakers include:
- Nuno Hélder Silva (Hovione, Portugal)
- Ana Brandão (ESTEC, European Space Agency, The Netherlands)
- Frederico Maia (Smallmatek, Portugal)
- Ashutosh Goel (Rutgers University, USA)
- Gisela Cunha (Stora Enso Innovation Centre for Biomaterials, Sweden)
- Abel Fenta (Sontex SA, Switzerland)
- Rute Pereira dos Santos (Amazing Chemist and EJR-Quartz for the European Space Agency, Italy)
Alongside the invited lectures, the event will include PhD student pitches, poster sessions, the Art in Science Competition, the CICECO Awards ceremony and a cultural programme, providing multiple opportunities to showcase research, promote scientific communication and strengthen collaboration across the CICECO community.
Participation is free of charge and open to the scientific community, industrial, technological and educational partners, although registration is mandatory.
Researchers are also invited to contribute to the poster session, while CICECO members may participate in the Art in Science Competition. PhD pitches will feature students selected by the CICECO PhD Students Council (CAD).
