CICECO stands out for its capacity to generate knowledge with real-world impact, with three projects led by its researchers selected under the “Proofs of Concept” call promoted by the Regional Coordination and Development Commission of the Centre (CCDRC). This results confirms the commitment of CICECO researchers in technology transfer.
The “Proofs of Concept” initiative plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between successful research outcomes and their application in real contexts. The CCDRC emphasizes that this type of instrument addresses a critical phase in the innovation chain by enabling preliminary validation, prototype development, functionality testing, feasibility assessments, and technological transfer potential before advancing to large-scale investments.
The projects approved and coordinated by CICECO researchers are the following:
HydroWIN – Daniela Lopes
In situ functionalization of electrodes in industrial electrolyzers for green hydrogen production.
This project focuses on developing advanced strategies to enhance the performance of industrial electrolyzers, contributing to more efficient and sustainable green hydrogen production, a key vector in the global energy transition.
SPY – Mara Freire
IgY-based biosensor for microorganism detection.
This project aims to develop an innovative biosensor using IgY antibodies, addressing the growing need for faster, more selective, and more sustainable microbiological detection technologies.
SLICIoT – Rute Ferreira
Smart Human-Centric Lighting and Communications through the Internet of Things.
Developed in co-promotion with Lightenjin II – Indústria de Iluminação Lda. and the Instituto de Telecomunicações, this project integrates smart lighting solutions with IoT communication systems to enhance human comfort and optimize connectivity in built environments.
With these results, CICECO strengthens its position as a leader in innovation and technology development, advancing solutions that respond to contemporary challenges, such as Energy and Health.
