The University of Aveiro received a special guest lecture by Francisco Barreiro, Director of Innovation and Sustainability at Renova, as part of a landmark series of workshops for the double anniversary being celebrated this year — the 25th anniversary of CICECO (Institute of Materials of Aveiro) and the 50th anniversary of the Department of Chemistry.
Entitled "Renova: The Importance of Innovation" the workshop took place on 13 May 2025 at 3:15 PM in Lecture Theatre 15.1.59 at the Department of Chemistry.
Francisco Barreiro shared his vision of how innovation drives industrial change and shapes corporate sustainability strategy at Renova, one of Portugal's most recognisable consumer goods brands.
The session offered the students a rare opportunity to engage directly with senior industry leadership and gain insights into how cutting-edge thinking translates into tangible product and business development.
The event reflected CICECO, the Chemistry Department and the University of Aveiro's ongoing commitment to fostering close ties between academic research, advanced teaching, and the broader industrial ecosystem, positioning Aveiro as a leading hub for materials science and chemical engineering in Portugal and internationally.
