INTELLICER advances smart energy and resource management for ceramics industry

The INTELLICER project – Smart Energy and Resource Management Ecosystem for the Ceramic Industry officially launched on 16 September 2026, with a kick-off meeting held at Primus Ceramics, the project’s leading partner.

Running from 2026 to 2029, the project aims to contribute to the transformation of the Portuguese ceramic industry, with a particular focus on the monoporosa ceramic wall and floor tile subsector, supporting its transition towards carbon neutrality through the development of a smart ecosystem for energy and resource management.

The initiative brings together 10 co-promoters, including seven companies and three scientific and technological entities. The consortium is led by Primus Ceramics and includes EDMTECH, SACMI Ibérica, Adelino Duarte da Mota, VP – Vidres Portugal, Molcer and RCSoft, together with CTCV, the University of Aveiro and INESC TEC.

The University of Aveiro and CICECO is represented in the project by João António Labrincha Baptista and Rui Miguel Novais from the Department of Materials and Ceramic Engineering (DEMaC), who is part of the initiative and contributes to its scientific and technological development.

By bringing together industrial partners and research and technology organisations, INTELLICER seeks to develop solutions for more efficient management of energy and material resources, contributing to industrial decarbonisation and more sustainable ceramic production.

The project is supported by the Business Research, Development and Innovation Incentive System – R&D&I Business – Co-Promotion Operations, through COMPETE 2030, Portugal 2030 and the European Union.
