CICECO delegation joins international ceramics community at Shaping 10 Conference

A strong delegation from the Department of Materials and Ceramic Engineering (DEMaC) at the University of Aveiro and CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials took part in the 10th Shaping Conference (Shaping 10), held from 21 to 23 September 2026 in Padova, Italy.

Organised jointly by the European Ceramic Society and the Italian Ceramic Society, the conference brought together researchers from across the ceramics community to discuss advanced shaping processes for ceramics and ceramic-based composites, from powder and colloidal processing to additive manufacturing, innovative shaping technologies and subsequent processing.

Representing the University of Aveiro and CICECO were Ricardo Mineiro, Ana Caetano, Ines Vieira, Salvador Rea, Ana Filipa Henriques, Tulane Rodrigues, Manuel Alves, Mariana Almeida, Pietro Merlin, Gonçalo Fernandes and José Carlos Almeida.

The Electroceramics Group was particularly represented at the meeting, contributing to discussions on materials processing, advanced shaping approaches and the development of ceramic materials for different applications.

Beyond the scientific programme, Shaping 10 provided an opportunity for PhD students and researchers at different career stages to present their work, exchange ideas and strengthen connections with the international ceramics research community.

The conference also addressed the industrial and ecological aspects of ceramic shaping, reflecting the growing importance of processing strategies that respond to technological and sustainability challenges in ceramics.
