Short bio

Caroline Araujo completed her PhD in Chemical Engineering in 2022 by Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (Brazil). Her doctoral research on graphene-based nanomaterials for water treatment received international recognition through the 3rd edition of the "25 Women in Science Latin America" award, granted by 3M Company, highlighting the scientific excellence and societal impact of her work in environmental technologies. 

Currently, she is a junior researcher at the University of Aveiro, under the project NEWATER “3D Printed Multifunctional Membranes for Wastewater Recovery”. 
She concluded a Postdoc at the University of Minho Center of Chemistry (CQ-UM) (2024 - 2025), where she worked with the development of Solid Polymer Electrolytes based on biopolymers, as part of the project NGS - New Generation Storage, BP4. Production of FlexibleCells and Cellulose-based. 
Her previous postdoctoral research was in the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP, LSRE-LCM associated laboratory, 2022 - 2023) on the Adsorption of amino acids and proteins in a fixed bed column using graphene-based biocomposite hydrogels. 

She works in the areas of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering with emphasis on Chemical Process Engineering, Nano-technology with emphasis on Nano-materials and Engineering and Technology with emphasis on Environmental Engineering.
