OLINWASTE - SMART SUSTAINABLE BIOREFINING OF OLIVE MILL WASTE INTO BIOCOMPOUNDS FOR PLANT AND SOIL HEALTH, BIOPLASTICS, AND BIOENERGY

Description

The biorefinery sector transforms biomass (agricultural or food industry waste) into valuable products. Even though it’s important for the circular economy, it faces major environmental and emissions challenges. The EU-funded OLinWASTE project will establish a zero-emission system for olive mill waste. It will convert waste into products like biofertilisers, biopesticides and bioenergy, cutting greenhouse gas emissions and soil pollution. A digital twin will optimise material, energy and waste flows while addressing noise and odour. The project supports the olive sector and biogas operators, advancing sustainability and setting new standards for renewable energy and waste management.
