The LUMINOUS project is investigating molecular materials that use lanthanide ions for information processing. This innovative approach can overcome the current limitations of silicon technology. The project develops logic gates and cutting-edge solutions that will be integrated into hybrid computing systems. The project could have an impact on energy consumption by increasing the processing capacity of current processors.
