Unraveling the role of the Neurodegenerative Causative protein TDP-43 in Oncogenesis to identify Vulnerabilities for improved bREast cancer tReatment

Description

The genetic and metabolic links between neurodegenerative diseases (NDs) and cancer involve shared genes and pathways that are dysregulated in opposite directions—such as the ubiquitin-proteasome system, oxidative stress, and DNA damage—suggesting that mechanisms underlying NDs may confer protection against cancer offering new therapeutic avenues . TDP-43 (encoded by the TARDBP gene in humans) is a causative agent of NDs known for its abnormal liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) and cytoplasmic aggregation, that has emerged as a key regulator of RNA splicing, transport, stability, and translation.
