Manuel Souto Salom (Valência, 1988) é Professor Convidado no Departamento de Química da Universidade de Aveiro e no CICECO-Aveiro Institute of Materials. Possui uma dupla licenciatura em Química e Engenharia Química da Universidade de Valência (Espanha) e da École de Chimie, Polymères et Matériaux (ECPM) de Estrasburgo (França), respectivamente, fazendo um estágio de investigação em PLAPIQUI (Argentina). Obteve também um Mestrado em Química Molecular e Supramolecular pela Universidade de Estrasburgo realizando a sua tese de mestrado no Instituto Superior Técnico (IST, Lisboa). Em 2016, obteve o seu doutoramento em Ciência dos Materiais (tese tripla premiada) no Instituto de Ciência dos Materiais de Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC) sob a supervisão do Prof. J. Veciana desenvolvendo novos materiais moleculares baseados em radicais orgânicos para diferentes aplicações em electrónica (interruptores moleculares, condutores e rectificadores) conduzindo duas estadias de investigação na Universidade Nacional de Singapura e na Universidade de Antuérpia. Em 2017, começou a trabalhar como investigador pós-doutorando (bolsa Juan de la Cierva) no Instituto de Ciência Molecular (ICMol-Universidad de Valencia) desenhando e sintetizando novas Estruturas Metalo-Orgânicas (MOFs). Desde 2019 foi Professor Assistente na Universidade de Aveiro e em 2022 foi promovido a Investigador Principal (tenure, equiv. a Prof. Associado). Em 2021, foi-lhe atribuído uma bolsa ERC-StG com o projeto ELECTROCOFS. O seu principal interesse de investigação actual é a concepção e síntese de novas estruturas electroactivas porosas funcionais (MOFs & COFs) baseadas em blocos de construção redox-activos para diferentes aplicações em electrónica e energia.
