This infrastructure provides a set of techniques to characterize the qualitative and quantitative elemental in the properties of materials solids or liquids. UV-Vis spectrophotometer can use to quantify the analytes in a sample based on their absorption characteristics. The usage of the equipment includes internal and external access, through training or assisted usage. Quality control in the steel industry to controlling doping profiles in semiconductor it is an example of the application of Glow Discharge Optical Emission Spectrometry (GD-OES). This is an analytical technique that provides both the surface/depth profile and the bulk elemental composition of solid materials and layers quickly, and with high sensitivity to a lot of elements. 3D Optical Profiler can measure the depth of the layers in the GD-OES application.
About Absorption, UV-Vis and Emission Spectroscopy
Atomic Absorption Analysis
Atomic absorption spectrophotometer, analytical technique used for the qualitative and quantitative determination of an element in a sample. In this method the sample, in the form of a homogeneous liquid, is introduced into a flame where thermal and chemical reactions create “free” atoms capable of absorbing characteristic wavelengths. Analysis in air/acetylene of the elements Au, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Li, Mg, Na, Ni e Pb. Minimum quantity 5ml.
UV-Vis-NIR Analysis
Determination of absorbance, reflectance and transmittance of liquid and solid materials for wavelengths between 190 and 3200nm or wavelengths between 240 and 2400nm using the accessory with integrating sphere. UV/VIS involves the spectroscopy of photons. It uses light in the visible and adjacent near ultraviolet (UV) and near infrared (NIR) ranges. In this region of energy space molecules undergo electronic transitions. The method is used in a quantitative way to determine concentrations of an absorbing species in solution, using the Beer-Lambert law. Minimum quantity 10ml or 5g.
RF Glow Discharge Optical Emission Spectrometry for Surface and Thin films Analysis
GD-OES, qualitative in-depth elemental analysis. The software detects automatically the intensity of un element and it being in arbitrary unit, the highest intensity doesn´t necessarily represent the highest concentration This analysis it is a widely used tool for fast measurements of depth profiles. Flat solid samples with films or only bulk with 12-20mm diameter are advised.
3D Optical Profile
3D Optical Profiler, dark and light field microscopy, focus variation (FV), confocal (Co), PSI (phase shifting interferometry) and VSI (vertical scanning interferometry). Samples dimensions 40mm heightx150mmx150mm.
