abstract The influence of ethylene glycol (EG) on the preparation of K(2)SnSi(3)O(9)center dot H(2)O (AV-6) was studied in this work. The EG content clearly changes the synthesis process. Although the morphology of the samples is similar, the products are mixtures containing AV-6, AV-7 (K(2)SnSi(3)O(9)center dot H(2)O) and AV-11 (K(4)Sn(2)Si(6)O(18)). At high EG content, nano crystal of Sn-AV-11, instead of AV-6, is crystallized from the system. The samples were characterized by powder XRD, SEM, solid-state (29)Si MAS NMR spectroscopy and thermogravimetric (TG) analysis.
