Filipe Hobi Bordon Sosa

Junior Researcher

Short CV

Filipe H. B. Sosa is currently a a Junior researcher at Aveiro Institute of Materials - CICECO, University of Aveiro and PI of an FCT project, recycling of spent automotive catalytic converters for the recovery and separation of platinum group metals and rare earth elements ((2022.04478.PTDC)). In 2015 he received a BSc degree in Chemical Engineering from the Regional University of Blumenau (FURB), Brazil and in 2017 he obtained his MSc degree in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), Brazil. In March of 2021, he completed his PhD in Chemical Engineering conducted under the cotutelle agreement between the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil, and the University of Aveiro (UA), Portugal. During the PhD, Filipe Sosa had additional trainees activities at Kemijski institut (National Institute of Chemistry), Slovenia under COST action - CA17128 (Establishment of a Pan-European Network on the Sustainable Valorisation of Lignin). There, he worked on the catalytic depolymerization, and conversion of lignin assisted by deep eutectic solvents and hydrodeoxygenation catalysis. Currently, the main goal of Filipe Sosa scientific investigation is the application of green solvents (ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents) for biomass valorization. In addition, he also has experience in the determination of phase equilibrium (liquid-vapor equilibrium, liquid-liquid equilibrium, and solid-liquid equilibrium). Since 2016 he has published 37 SCI papers in international peer-reviewed journals, 2 book chapters, with 36 distinct authors spread across four countries (Brazil, Peru, Finland, and Portugal). Moreover, he has contributed with +80 oral and posters communications.
