About Gonçalo Valente

Gonçalo Valente was born in 1996, the year in which the Nobel Chemistry Prize was awarded for the discovery of fullerenes, an interesting curiosity considering the similarity of his area's study in the field of molecular materials.

He obtained his BSc (2017) and MSc (2019) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Aveiro. He had a short stint in the world of industrial chemistry where he developed his master's thesis "Development of flame retardant acrylic fibers from acrylonitrile copolymerization". During his academic journey he was co-founder of Núcleo da Bicicleta da Universidade de Aveiro (NBicla).

In 2019, he earns the opportunity to work with Prof. João Rocha (Director of CICECO at the time) and Prof. Manuel Souto by being selected for the research fellowship "National NMR Network/University of Aveiro-CICECO project PTNMR 22161". In 2020, with the same team he applied for the FCT PhD grants in Chemistry with the Work Project "Electroactive Metal-Organic Framework for Electronic Applications”, and he won (2020.08520.BD).

Autonomous in the following characterization techniques: X-Ray Diffraction (powder in reflection and transmission, and single crystal), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy-Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDS), Cyclic Voltammetry (CV), FTIR-ATR, Raman Spectroscopy, Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy, Spectrophotometry and Fluorescence Spectroscopy.

Collaborates with Samuel Guieu (Organic Chemistry), Luís Mafra (ssNMR), and Carlos Brites (Physics, Luminescence).
