Role

Laboratory Officer, responsible for carrying out laboratory procedures, sample preparation, and the technical execution of thermal analysis and materials characterisation. Provides technical support for laboratory classes across four laboratories, one pilot plant, three furnace rooms and research projects. As Environmental Coordinator, manages hazardous and non-hazardous chemical waste, including identification, supervision of collection processes, temporary storage and forwarding of waste to the University of Aveiro’s licensed waste management operator. Promotes sustainability campaigns and fosters laboratory safety measures. Oversees the stock management of reagents and laboratory materials, as well as the preparation and updating of laboratory test records. Responsible for budgeting and supporting the invoicing of external services. Provides training and awareness sessions on chemical safety and waste management good practices for first-year students. Also responsible for the technical and operational management of research equipment across four laboratories.
