Associate Professor

Short CV

Mariana Banea got her PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (Portugal), in 2011. Her research is mainly about adhesive bonding and composite materials. M.D. Banea published approximately 119 journal papers (ISI Web of Knowledge) and more than 180 papers in proceedings of international conferences. Her papers were cited 5126 times and correspond to an h-index of 38 (SCOPUS, 10/12/2022). She is a reviewer of 46 ISI journals and a member of editorial board of the following journals: Journal of Renewable Materials, Journal of Mechanical Engineering and Biomechanics, Reviews of Adhesion and Adhesives and International Journal of Adhesion and Adhesives.

She was awarded with the following prizes:
1. 2010 SAGE Best Paper Award by the Editor and Editorial Board of the Journal of Materials: Design and Applications for the paper “Banea, M.D. and L.F.M. da Silva, The effect of temperature on the mechanical properties of adhesives for the automotive industry”.
2. Donald Julius Groen Prize for 2010 by Structural Technology and Materials Group Prizes and Awards of Institution of Mechanical Engineers, UK for the paper “Banea, M.D. and L.F.M. da Silva, The effect of temperature on the mechanical properties of adhesives for the automotive industry”.
3. Fundação Eng. António de Almeida Prize for 2011 best PhD thesis by Fundação Eng. António de Almeida.
