CICECO secures 35 spots in Stanford’s 2024 List of the World’s Top 2% Scientists

According to the 2024 edition of the study coordinated by Professor John P. A. Ioannidis from Stanford University (USA), known as"Stanford World's Top 2% Scientists", 35 researchers from CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials have been recognized among the world's leading scientists. This ranking is based on citation metrics extracted from Elsevier’s Scopus database, with data updated until the end of 2023.

Key Highlights from the 2024 Ranking:

  • Single-Year 2023 Performance: In the 2024 ranking, 30 CICECO researchers are listed among the 223,152 top 2% scientists worldwide, with 890 of these scientists affiliated with Portuguese institutions. This analysis is based on their performance in 2023 alone.
  • Career-Long Performance: Additionally, 25 CICECO researchers are ranked among the 217,097 top scientists globally, with 633 based in Portugal, in the career-long performance analysis.

Outstanding Achievements:

  • Of the 35 CICECO researchers recognized in the 2023 database, 16 are ranked among the Top 5 researchers in Portugal in their respective sub-fields.
  • Among the 25 CICECO researchers included in the career-long analysis, 12 are positioned in the Top 5 in Portugalwithin their sub-fields.
