Georgina Miranda joins leading European Powder Metallurgy association

Georgina Miranda, a researcher at CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials, and professor in the Department of Materials and Ceramic Engineering (DEMaC) at the University of Aveiro, has joined the European Powder Metallurgy Association (EPMA), one of the leading organizations dedicated to the development of Powder Metallurgy at both European and international levels.

Founded in 1989, EPMA's mission is to promote and support the development of Powder Metallurgy in Europe, representing the industry and research centers in this field before regulatory, industrial, and scientific bodies. The association is known for fostering cooperation among stakeholders in the sector, promoting standardization and the dissemination of technical and scientific knowledge, as well as organizing high-profile conferences and training programs.

As part of her involvement with EPMA, Georgina Miranda will join the European Powder Metallurgy Institutes (EPMI) working group, composed of representatives from European institutes and research centers with significant activity in the field of Powder Metallurgy. This group’s main goal is to strengthen synergies between academic research and industrial needs, promoting knowledge exchange and the development of high-impact collaborative projects.

The participation of this University of Aveiro researcher in the group represents not only a recognition of the work carried out at DEMaC and CICECO in the field of materials, but also enhances the visibility and contribution of the University of Aveiro in international networks of scientific and technological excellence.
