The innovation and entrepreneurship competition was organized by the Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT), with the collaboration of the company Parafuturo and the Macao Young Entrepreneur Incubation Centre (MYEIC), an entity with which University of Aveiro has been collaborating for a few years.
The purpose of this competition is to intensify cooperation with Portuguese-speaking countries, in the areas of science innovation and technology, also contributing to the installation of Portuguese and Brazilian companies in Macau, allowing their expansion in the Chinese market.
In this first edition, five companies were awarded. Ryapurtech, a company dedicated to the production of IgY antibodies obtained from hyperimmune eggs to fight infectious diseases, received a prize of more than €5,000 (50,000 patacas).
In addition to the monetary prizes, the winning companies will also be able to visit the Greater Bay Area and connect with investment and financing institutions and incubators in mainland China and Macao.
The innovation and entrepreneurship competition included the participation of 20 projects, nominated by eight higher education institutions and incubators in Portugal and Brazil.
