The ECOGRES 4.0 project, developed with the collaboration of the University of Aveiro, has been nominated as a finalist for the prestigious European RegioStars 2024 Award. From a total of 262 applications, ECOGRES 4.0 stands out as one of the 25 finalists and is the only Portuguese project in the "Green Europe" category. And our online votes can help the project win.
As in previous years, the public has the opportunity to vote for their favorite finalist in the Public Award. Voting began on September 2nd on the REGIOSTARS Awards website.
Since its creation in 2008, the RegioStars Award has become a symbol of excellence for projects funded by the European Union. Organized annually by the European Commission, it aims to identify and promote good practices in regional development, encouraging other regions to adopt them.
The ECOGRES 4.0 project is a spin-off of the previous project called ECOGRÉS NG+, co-funded by COMPETE 2020. Its focus is on the principles of industrial symbiosis, circular economy, innovation, and Ceramics 4.0. The project aims to develop sustainable stoneware materials using waste from both ceramic and non-ceramic industries.
The RegioStars 2024 finalists will meet for the "final round" of jury evaluation during the #EURegionsWeek in Brussels. There, they will present their projects before a live audience and a jury. The winners will be announced during the REGIOSTARS ceremony on October 9th.
