The podcast "ScienceCast – A Conversation with Science", the result of a collaborative project between CICECO, CESAM, and the production company PlaySolutions, has been nominated for the Best Podcast of the Year award in the Science, Technology, and Education category at the prestigious Podes! Festival. You can see all the nominees here: https://podes.pt/nomeados/.
The Podes Awards are presented annually by Jornal Público and Portcasts. The awards are given at the closing of the Podes Festival, with an online broadcast and airing on Canal Q. This year, the celebration will take place on February 1st.
"ScienceCast – A Conversation with Science", which premiered last May on National Scientist Day, invites audiences to discover scientists from various fields of knowledge through informal yet in-depth conversations. The main goal of this initiative is to promote scientific literacy and provide a platform for researchers from different disciplines. Additionally, the podcast serves as an example of cooperation between CICECO/CESAM and society, contributing to the dissemination of science and Portuguese scientists across all areas of knowledge.
Joaquim Pedro Ferreira (CESAM, CICECO) is one of the authors of this project, alongside Pedro Miguel Ferreira (PlaySolutions Audiovisuais), with Mónica Ribau (CICECO) as the host of the podcast.
The collaboration between CESAM and CICECO in science communication and outreach is strategic, as both institutions have expertise in areas such as social media management and analysis, scientific journalism, and audiovisual production—skills that are almost unique among research units at the national level.
"ScienceCast – A Conversation with Science" is available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and also in video format on YouTube.
