The director of CICECO, associated laboratory from UA, and professor of the Department of Chemistry was given the Alberto Romão Dias Award, by the Portuguese Chemistry Society. The Award, which was given this year to João Rocha, is awarded every two years to a chemist who has distinguished themselves by the high quality, originality and autonomy of the research work, developed in Portugal, in the field of Inorganic and Organometallic Chemistry.
The Award will be handed over during the conference of the Inorganic and Bioinorganic Chemistry Division of SPQ - http://13ibcc.events.chemistry.pt , when the winner will deliver an Invited Lecture.
The Alberto Romão Dias Award was established by the Portuguese Chemical Society (SPQ) in 2009.
The researcher and professor at UA has recently become the new coordinator of the evaluation panel of the prestigious Consolidator Grants (CoG) of the European Research Council (ERC), PE11 Materials Engineering, the only Portuguese to coordinate an ERC CoG panel this year, in all fields of knowledge. The grants of the European Research Council (ERC) are the most prestigious and largest grants to support scientific activity in the European Union.
João Rocha is also the new secretary of the Council of Associated National Laboratories (setting-up committee), succeeding Alexandre Quintanilha and José Manuel Mendonça.
