Current position

Ana Cristina Estrada is Researcher at CICECO - Aveiro Institute of Materials (Group 1 – Porous Materials and Nanosystems), Chemistry Department, University of Aveiro, Portugal.

Background and Education

Ana Cristina Estrada is graduated in Chemistry, with specialization in polymers, from the University of Minho (2002) and holds an MSc in Chemistry of Natural Products from the University of Aveiro (2005). She earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Aveiro in 2010. From 2013 to 2018, she was postdoctoral researcher at the University of Aveiro, with a focus on developing semiconductor-based nanocomposites and carbon-based materials for photocatalytic applications envisaging water remediation.

Current Research Activities

Her research has been focused on developing nanostructured materials for various applications and areas, including agriculture, biomedical, and water remediation. Her primary interests lie in innovative strategies for the synthesis and surface modification of diverse materials towards developing sustainable nanosorbents/ nanophotocatalysts, and the valorization of biomass as a source of raw material for the development of (nano)materials for biomedical applications. Recently, she has expanded her research to explore novel functional materials for sustainable energy applications.
