Patricia Lima was born in Recife (Brazil) in 1975 and holds a first University degree (Licenciatura) in Chemistry by the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco, Brazil (obtained in July 2000). In May 2003, she received a Master Degree in Inorganic Chemistry (Title: Spectroscopic Study of Lanthanide Complexes with Dicarboxylic Acid Ligands) from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), Brazil. In July 2007 she completed her PhD in Inorganic Chemistry (Title: Synthesis and Spectroscopic Study of Lanthanide Complexes Incorporated Into Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Materials), during this time, as part of an exchange program, she has spent almost two years in Portugal at the University of Aveiro (Physics Department and CICECO - Centre for Research in Ceramics and Composite Materials). In 2007 she joined the Group of Functional Organic-Inorganic Hybrids at University of Aveiro (Physics Department and CICECO) where she is currently a post-doctoral (QREN fellowship) researcher, under the supervision of Prof. Luís Dias Carlos. She is co-author of an international patent and about 26 SCI papers (390 times cited without self-citations) with a corresponding Hirsch index h of 10.

Scientific Interests

Her research is focused on:
Lanthanide-based hybrid materials prepared via sol-gel method
Synthesis of lanthanide complexes with organic complexes for the development of optical sensors
Photostability and photoisomerization of lanthanide-based β-diketonate complexes.
