La(Mg1/2Ti1/2)O-3 - Based materials for microwave applications

abstract

(1-x)LMT-xATiO(3) (A = Ba, Sr and Ca) (0 less than or equal to x < 1) ceramics were prepared by a nonconventional chemical route based on Pechini method. LMT and ATiO(3) were found to form solid solutions in whole compositional range. In all cases, dense (>95%), homogeneous and single-phase ceramics were obtained. In each system the increase of ATiO(3) content resulted in a sequence of structural transformations. Dielectric characterization of these ceramics was performed at microwave frequencies and their compositional dependence was evaluated. Promising microwave dielectric properties (epsilon(r) = 60, tau(f) = -2 ppm/degreesC and Q(.)f = 9600GHz) were achieved for the composition 0.5La(Mg1/2Ti1/2)O-3/0.5BaTiO(3).
