Descrição
The SISET joint exchange programme aims to establish long-term research cooperation between Portuguese, Belgian, Belarusian and Chinese scientists in the field of instrumental techniques for corrosion science. Collaboration brings together the experts from conventional and localized electro analytical techniques, electro chemical modeling, corrosion science and protective coatings in order to develop new experimental protocols for studying corrosion and healing processes on a micro scale.
The work programme intends to synergistically unite the existing localized electro analytical techniques via realization of new ideas allowing their simultaneous use. Combination of two or even three localized techniques dramatically increases the value of data acquired by each of them since all numerical parameters are collected without considerable time lag and therefore can be unconditionally used as the input parameters for modeling and simulation. For example, SVET-SIET measurements performed simultaneously correlate information about two essential components of corrosion processes: electrochemical oxidation-reduction equilibriums with acid-base chemical interactions, dramatically improving the understanding and prediction of corrosion processes.
In view of indicated project objectives, no high financial investment is required since the individual techniques are well developed and the research activities at the partner institutions are already in progress. To achieve the goals, complementary combination of the existing expertise and groundwork is needed. Mutually beneficial transfer of knowledge will be implemented through an intensive exchange program between five partner organizations.
