CICECO and CESAM discover new class of ionic liquids
A new class of ionic liquids originating from derivatives of mandelic acid, with low toxicity has been discovered by a research team CICECO / CESAM

The work, which made the cover of the latest issue of the journal ACS Susdtainable Chemistry & Engineering, results from the study "Imidazolium and Pyridinium Ionic Liquids from Mandelic Acid Derivatives: Synthesis and Bacteria and Algae Toxicity Evaluation" signed by Sonia Ventura, Fábio Ferreira, Fernando Gonçalves and John Coutinho, researchers at the Centre for Research in Ceramics and Composite Materials (CICECO) and the Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies (CESAM) UA.
