Description
The project Leather3D - Desenvolvimento de Soluções em Couro para Manufatura Aditiva project, hereby described for appreciation, consolidates its pillars on research and development of new leather material solutions for Additive Manufacturing (AM) technologies. The geometric freedom attained with the fabrication of products by AM technologies, such as Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) and 3D Printing (3DP), makes possible the manufacture of products with geometries and functionalities unable to obtain by conventional technologies. The production of these distinct products will allow and enrich the leather industry on the production of value-added products that will respond to luxury market segment needs, as the fashion market, nationally and internationally.
The LEATHER3D project aims to the:- Worldwide product innovation through the development of leather polymer composites (CPC, from Portuguese, Compósitos Poliméricos de Couro) for FFF systems;
- Worldwide innovation on the FFF printing system through the optimization of a suitable extrusion system for processing CPC filaments;
- Worldwide product innovation through the development of leather powders formulations suitable for 3DP.
